Anotace
The seminar focuses on a contrastive analysis and practice of grammatical and lexical means (types of subordinate clauses, nonfinite constructions, word-order, temporal relations, syntactic constancy, lexical relations, etc.) through translation from Czech to English (and from English to Czech). The main objective is to provide students with practice in conscious choice and differentiation of linguistic means to achieve precision of expression.
The course is not meant to be an introduction to translation studies, but rather a method to enhance knowledge and comparative skills of the linguistic systems of English and Czech.
