OBJECTIVES
This course spends the first five weeks covering the poetry of W. B. Yeats, and examines ideas of nation, language and form, as they play out in his work. We then cover mid-century poets such as Patrick Kavanagh, Louis MacNeice and Austin
Clarke. In the final section we will look at Thomas Kinsella, Seamus Heaney, Eavan Boland, Medbh McGuckian and Paul
Muldoon, among others.

ASSESSMENT
To receive a credit for this course, students must attend regularly and submit an essay of 3000 words.
