Class at Faculty of Arts |
AAA500126

Syllabus

Annotation

The course is conceived as an introduction into the field of World Englishes (WEs), Global English and current English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) research. It provides an overview of key terminology and discusses pedagogically highly relevant issues that are applicable in ELT (English Language Teaching) practice.

It is especially intended for MA students of English and American studies who have completed their practical language course and (possibly) an introductory course into applied linguistics. Previous theoretical and practical experience with TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) is welcome but not essential.

The course participants will be given a chance to practise their presentation, and discussion skills and take a critical stance to established applied linguistic phenomena.
