Syllabus
Main thematic areas:
1. practice of time proportions of sound segments (especially vowels) and syllables when implemented in the text; word stress
2. practice of difficult sounds and sound combinations (according to the individual needs of the students)
3. special orthoepic phenomena (e.g. assimilation, palatalization... (according to the individual needs of students)
4. realization of continuous speech with an emphasis on melodic and temporal characteristics
Annotation
The course is primarily intended for students who have completed the basic compulsory course Phonology of Czech for foreigners I and II.
The aim of the course is to deepen the students' speaking competence, both in terms of speech production and perception. Students' ability to distinguish different stylistic variants will be developed. Attention will be focused on phenomena that have caused difficulties for non-native speakers of Czech and whose incorrect pronunciation can make communication difficult and reduce intelligibility.
During the course, audio recordings of various types of speeches are made, which are used for production practice, screening of individual difficulties and preparation of seminar work. The course also includes perception tests and short presentations.
