The excursion consists of three consecutive parts – the introductory meeting, the excursion itself and the final summarizing seminar. The obligatory introductory meeting introduces the students to the specific content of the excursion and organizational instructions, during which the students will also choose one of the topics offered, which they will prepare in the form of a short report presented during the excursion. A condition for awarding the attestation is also the preparation of a final written work/essay on a topic related to the guided excursion.
The content of the field trips will vary from semester to semester, the topics will be specified before the beginning of the semester of the SIS syllabus. Outings and places will also be continuously supplemented by links to the selected research topics of the students. The seminar can also be extended by excursions outside of Prague or dedicated to contemporary culture, the accompanying part can also include a visit to a theater performance and a classical music concert.
For the summer semester of the school year 2022 / 2023, after consultation with some students (participants of Thematic Excursion I), the following topic was chosen: A walk around Prague's cafes, wine bars, pubs and restaurants (the role of pubs in Czech cultural history and in the life of Prague).
Further details will be communicated to the students during the introductory meeting (March - April 2023), expected date of the excursion: May 2023 - June 2023.
In the event of an unfavorable epidemiological situation, the excursion will take place in the form of a video conference.
Thematic Excursion II follows up and expands the subject Thematic Excursion I with places connected with modern Czech history and culture and especially with the transformation of the capital and key events of the 20th century.
In case of an unfavorable epidemiological situation, the teaching will take place in the form of a video conference.
The course takes place in the form of an introductory meeting, own excursion and a final seminar (the course is therefore not scheduled).
