HISTORY OF ART IN AN AGE OF ECOLOGICAL CRISIS
Course Description:
The course is a part of a series of lectures presenting an international reflection of selected topics in the history of art, this year under the title "History of Art in an Age of Ecological Crisis." The lectures will be given by guest lecturers from European universities, and they will aim to offer a dialogue of various theoretical approaches, examples of environmental and activist art, current tendencies in sustainability in heritage protection, as well as an opportunity to get acquainted with Czech scholars dealing with related issues.
The seminar is open to students at all levels of study, no prior knowledge of the topic is required. Emphasis is given on regular attendance and active participation in classes, at the end of the semester students submit a three-page essay on one of the presented topics. Lessons do not take place every week - participants will be informed about each date and receive a list of recommended reading in advance.
