The course is an introduction to the research of the Islamic world through the lens of anthropology. It focuses on geographical, historical and cultural definition of the Islamic world while stressing its diversity.

The participants will be introduced to the historical overview of the anthropological research in various regions of the Islamic world as well as the most interesting topics of this research. Lastly, the participants will gain the insight into the possibilities of conducting their own research in this geographical area.
