Syllabus
1. Speech styles, regional and social markedness.
2. Codification of pronunciation in Czech.
3. Comparing public speech production with regard to the communication situation, based on perception tests.
4. Creation of a perception test (criteria for selecting sound material, acquisition and compilation of the test, setting and evaluation).
5. Analysis of actual pronunciation in comparison with the standard (based on the results of the perception test).
6. Discussion on the topic of speech variability in communication and on the degrees of acceptability of individual features for the listeners.
Annotation
The course introduces the topic of variability of sound phenomena in spoken communication with special focus on the relationship between actual pronunciation and the standard of a given language.
