1. Theatre production as a structured unit, the role of the speech component. Specificity of the language sign in stage elocution, consequences for the use of language resources.
2. Stage elocution and Czech in theatre performances. Fiction of the so-called naturalness of speech.
3. The relationship of speech and dramatic text, types of texts, dialogue and monologue; conversational comedy, verse.
4. Speech in movie acting.
5. Students' reports concerning analyses based on selected criteria.
The course introduces spoken language in the special communication situation of a theatre performance. The theoretical parts deals with general properties of stage elocution from the viewpoint of the actor and audience, and in different types of theatres.
The course includes practical analyses of samples of contemporary Czech performed on stage.
