Annotation

The seminar will explore some aspects of the dialogue between Aristotle and the contemporary philosophy of mind, especially functionalism and theories of emergence. Besides Aristotle's programmatic texts concerning the philosophy of nature as a whole and the study of soul in particular, we will have a closer look on Aristotle's conception of sense-perception, especially in the context of the contemporary discussion between representationalist and direct realism and the question of the limits of functionalism.
