Self-Consciousness as Reason

Class at Faculty of Arts |

Annotation

The aim of the course is to investigate Hegel´s procedure by the explanation of the problems which come about in the context of self-realisation of the reasonable self-consciousness, i.e. in the last chapter of the part Reason. These problems are generated, if the reasonable self-consciousness separates itself into the individual self-consciousness on the one hand and into the general self-consciousness on the other hand which Hegel calls the real substance.

It is obvious that by the real substance the community of the individual self-consciousnesses is meant. The basic conflict which comes about in this way is a conflict between the individual self-consciousness which tries to put itself against the real substance and to change this substance in according with its own individual purposes and this real substance which tries to preserve itself against these tendencies of the individual self-consciousness.
