This block course serves as introduction to a particular period of intellectual history, approached through book history. It concentrates on manuscripts, primarily from the 15th century and primarily, although not exclusively, in Latin. It provides students with introduction to paleography, codicology, as well as medieval multilingualism, textual networks, and digital humanities. Active participation in class is required. We will also work together on a project concerning a particular bible codex from 1421. The result will be an interactive webpage.
