Annotation
Lecture and seminar focused on improving academic skills. Students will expand their vocabulary in the field of medieval studies, learn to explain in English the precise scope of their studies, become acquainted with the typical structure of academic documents (CV, paper abstract, cover letter, reviews, and scholarly articles). Special attention will be given to issues such as coherence, cohesion, paragraph structure – including topic sentences and closing sentences – hedging, parallelism, nominalization, and passive voice. While our primary focus will be on written expression, we will also address oral presentations.
The course is taught in English.
