Annotation
The seminar will focus on the role of the Bible in medieval written culture and has several objectives:
Familiarize students with the Bible itself (for each session, students are assigned reading of a portion of the Bible in Czech and a short excerpt in Latin, with a brief biblical quiz at the beginning of each session).
Highlight various medieval genres, significant texts, and manuscripts that were influenced by the Bible.
Homework preparation for each session is a requirement.

The Bible and medieval education, rhetoric
The Bible and religious polemics
A basic knowledge of Latin is a prerequisite for the course.
