Annotation

The course unfolds along two main lines. The first provides insight into the multilayered process of the formation of modern capitalism on a global scale, from the early modern period to the end of the Second World War.

It traces its attributes, recalling regional specificities. The second line of interpretation consists of the issue of the economic development of the Czech lands/Czechoslovakia in the Central European context.

The seminar focuses on selected topics in connection with the lecture series. The core of the seminar is analytical work with secondary literature and archival sources.
