Annotation

The subject of the lecture is the economy of the Bohemian lands and its transformation in the specific period 1938-1945, i.e. under the pressure of the occupation and the war effort of Nazi Germany. The interpretation is based on the characterization of the economy at the end of the First Republic, explains the consequences of the state changes in the autumn of 1938 (Munich) and presents the Czech economy (Protectorate and the ceded borderlands) in the context of the broader Nazi plans and goals (the Grossraumwirtschaft).

The interpretation takes into account institutional changes (the system of managed economy, reorganization), Germanization pillars (land and settlement policy, "Aryanization" and Germanization of business entities), and the question of exploitation. The lecture combines a view from above (macro level) and from the point of view of individual market actors (business entity, consumer).
