Anotace

During the course, students will become familiar with the issue of political participation and representation of women in Czechoslovakia as a topic of historical research. The aim of the lectures is to introduce historical realities, sources and historiography, as well as the possibilities, limits and perspectives of the given research.

In the center of attention will be female members of the First Republic and Communist Parliaments. The course will proceed chronologically.

The introductory lecture will pay the main attention to gender history. The lecture will focus on gender as a category of historical analysis and influential works and authors.

The beginnings of the emancipation of women in Czechoslovakia in the 19th century and the position of women in Czechoslovak society before and after the Second World War will also be adequately taken into account.
