The course is part of the field of software engineering and its aim is to acquaint students with the basics of relational databases and data modeling.
Students will get acquainted with data modeling with the help of a SW tool and they will get acquainted with the principle of three architectures, data integrity, relationship cardinality and data normalization. They will also work with relational database and SQL query language (MySQL), they will get to know with commands for data definition
(DDL) and data manipulation language (DML). Emphasis is placed on practical practice of the subject matter on specific examples.
For literature reference and information see Moodle.
Distance learning: The course will be teached onlline via Zoom and Moodle in 2020/2021. Students will need a
PC/ntb with microphone and camera (phone is not adequate). All teaching tools will be available online via the web interface, so you won't need to install special SW. I only recommend to have at your disposal text editor that controls SQL syntax (e.g. Notepad++, Visual Studio, etc.), but is not necessary. The evaluation of the course will be based on the preparation of a seminar thesis and an online test.
