Continental Philosophical Approaches to the Work with the Concept of Information from Modern Times to the 20th Century

Class at Faculty of Arts |
AISV5963

Annotation

This course aims to introduce the student to the basic concepts of continental philosophy. It will thus focus primarily on those philosophical ideas and systems that thematize the problem of form and substance, or information itself.

Except for the first and last lectures, the course will be conducted in a rather seminar-like manner, supplemented by selected readings by individual authors. Following the syllabus, it will thus show how the concept of information has evolved from the early modern period to the modern founders of information theory such as Wiener and Shannon.
