Anotace
Kurz navazuje na úvod do syntaxe a sémantiky a je založen na pokročilé aplikaci konstrukční gramatiky jakožto svébytného funkčně-kognitivního pojetí syntaktické analýzy. Studenti se seznámí s teoretickými východisky konstrukčního přístupu a naučí se formulovat i formalizovat konstrukční zobecnění o gramatické organizaci, převážně v práci s anglickým a českým jazykovým materiálem, ale také s ohledem na vlastní jazykovou specializaci. Součástí výkladu je i zkoumání možností, jak lze systematicky popisovat a vysvětlovat syntaktickou variabilitu, zároveň s ohledem na otázku, do jaké míry může konstrukční gramatika sloužit jako univerzálně aplikovatelný analytický model.
This course is intended to solidify students’ understanding of the inner workings of Construction Grammar (CxG), a cognitively and functionally oriented framework in which grammatical patterns are understood as conventionalized associations between form and function. Through exploration of the framework’s descriptive and explanatory potential, students will practice its analytic method and learn how to articulate and formalize constructional generalizations about a variety of grammatical patterns, mostly on English and Czech data, but also accommodating the students’ language interests. We will also examine the ways in which variation in grammatical form can be systematically captured and explained, and consider the question in what sense the constructional approach can serve as a universal model of language.
