Anotace

The aim of the course will be to get acquainted with fundamental facts, questions, controversies and theories related to the presence of Islam and Muslims in Europe.

Conditions:

- regular attendance

- reading of literature for each course, available on Moodle

- writing of regular notes or presentation of a text in class

- final essay

- Islam in the Balkans

- Different Islams of Europe: from liberals to conservatives

- What does integration of Muslims mean? Integration, assimilation, incorporation

- Muslim presence and European secular systems

- Muslim identity in Europe

- Controversies and conflicts: freedom of speech

- Islamophobia, discrimination and European Law

- What would a European Islam mean?
