Syllabus
Course content: brief characteristics of the course content, overview of subtopics, programme:
Forensic psychology - definition of forensic disciplines, historical development.
Criminological psychology - theoretical concepts of criminal behaviour, criminal psychopathology, criminal aggression, personality of the offender, motivation of criminal behaviour, victimology, forecasting (development of crime and its forms), psychological aspects of the application of criminal sanctions.
Criminal psychology - psychological characteristics of individual services provided within the framework of psychological support of investigations, procedural actions, psychological profiling of offenders, psychological consultation service. Analysis of video recordings as a valuable resource for psychological support of criminal investigations.
Forensic psychology - psychological aspects of court proceedings and decision-making.
Psychological forensic expertise - tasks of the expert in civil and criminal proceedings, assessment of the credibility of the testimony of offenders and witnesses. Dangerousness of the offender, prerequisites for resocialization.
Penitentiary and post-penitentiary psychology - personality of the convicted, classification systems, differentiated treatment. Possibilities and limits in the resocialisation of specific groups of convicts (juveniles, recidivists, persons with personality disorders, protective treatment, exceptional sentences, etc.).
Psychological care - crisis intervention, counselling, group treatment methods.-
Forensic psychological recruitment of employees - selection, education, training of police and prison staff. Psychological care for members of security forces.
Annotation
The aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of current issues of contemporary forensic practice, individual forensic psychological disciplines, to give their brief characteristics as a basis for subsequent selection lectures and to point out the possibilities of prospective application of psychologists in this specific area of applied psychology.
