The subject introduces students to mindfulness and self-compassion as two common factors that are playing an important role in any psychotherapy, and that is possible to develop even without the use of meditation. It pays attention to mechanisms by which mindfulness and self-compassion assists in the process of therapeutic change.

It introduces students with current issues and trends in the use of mindfulness and self-compassion in psychotherapy, and with various methods for developing mindfulness and self-compassion in clients. It includes also a practical taste of traditional meditation practices.
