Imagination in the Psychotherapy, KIP

Syllabus

* Course content:

Students will gain an overview of the basic concepts of imaginative psychotherapy, such as image, symbol, symbolization, imagination, projection of the uncounscious, day dream vs night dream, supportive and threatening imaginations , resistence and defence, etc. To certain extent a self- experience will also be included. The following will be discussed: historical context and framework of deep psychology, specific questions of psychotherapeutical work using imagination and difference between controlled and active imagination. Catathymatic imaginative psychotherapy (KIP) will be introduced in detail - directing principles, motives, transmission and countertransmission, rendering and processing of client´s topics in primary and secondary process, indications, contraindications, specifics of use for various diagnostic groups and problematic areas (psychosomatics, crises intervention, work with trauma, work with a couple, etc). The metodology of research into psychotherapeutical process and effectiveness of KPIs will be mentioned.

Annotation

Basic overview of principles of imaginative procedures and some imaginative techniques in psychotherapy, possibilities and limits of its use, practical examples, case studies.
