Anotace
The aim of the course is to get an overview of main criminological theories and discuss their starting points, propositions, consequences, and limitations. Although a variety of theories will be summarized, the main focus will be on theories stemming from the sociological perspective. During the lectures, the key theoretical directions will be introduced by the teacher and supplemented by presentations on specific topics (authors, texts) by students and followed by group discussion.
The course is open to all students interested in the topic. The assignment of oral presentations will be tailored to the students’ capabilities (previous knowledge of criminology, sociology, psychology etc.).
