Annotation
The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic understanding of how sociology over the past 100 years has approached the exploration of the "interaction order" (Goffman 1983) as a specific dimension of social life and social reality. Our theme will be the sphere of daily life and ordinary social interactions in various social environments.
Sociological directions such as symbolic interactionism, social phenomenology, urban ethnography, Goffmanian sociology, ethnomethodology and conversation analysis will be addressed, right down to the latest research on bodily and speech behaviour in naturally occurring interactions. The main intention is for students to acquire the key theoretical knowledge required to further refine the methodology and empirical research of the current sociological investigation of social interaction, towards which the further courses in the "Social interaction" specialisation are directed.
