Syllabus

Students will focus on the following topics. speaking in academic context (formal style) presentation skills expressing opinions, agreement and disagreement, introducing arguments conference rehearsal academic vocabulary

Annotation

This is a one-semester course, 1x2 lessons per week.

The course aims to further develop active use of the English language in students. Through simulated debates, discussions, presetations and min-conferences, students will enhance their language skills in expressing their opinions, giving arguments, asking questions, agreeing and disagreeing etc. Students will deal with current social issues, such as fake news, global conflicts, environmental problems and the like. They will also have the opportunity to present their own academic papers.

Study materials will be distributed. Sample sources are the follwing,The Guardian, YouTube, TedTalks, Fox News, ViceNews, UN reports.

The course focuses on all four language areas (reading, speaking, listening and writing).

The level of English required is B2 (code 01) and C1 (code 02).
