Working with text - reading comprehension, translation of more difficult texts and interference with English, vocabulary expansion (synonymisation, nominalisation); narrative text, expository text, interview, review, survey, logical and functional structuring of text; application in oral and written communication.
Spoken communication - monologue/dialogue on topics discussed, defending one's own opinion, argumentation on a given topic.
Listening comprehension.
Grammar - plusquamperfect, prepositions, indefinite pronouns, simple and compound relative pronouns, present and past conditional, subjonctif present and its use in subordinate clauses, participle présent, gérondif, conditional clauses, direct and indirect speech, sequence of tenses, expression of contrast, comparison and tense (mainly in subordinate clauses).

The course is designed for students who have basic knowledge of standard French at A2/B1 level (cf. French.
Course B1.1). Its objective is the development of main language competences in French with a special focus on academic skills necessary to achieve the level B1.
This one-semester course takes place twice a week (90-minute lessons).
