The course is designed primarily for students of non-philosophical subjects at the Faculty of Arts. The aim is to mediate basic ways of philosophical thinking which enable cultivating and improving the overall understanding of oneself, the world and one ’s place in it, preceding all special scientific knowledge.
The lectures make philosophical thinking accessible using examples of solving specific philosophical issues and show how philosophy thematises and clarifies phenomena which we encounter in the contemporary world. The objective is also to show how philosophical thinking relates to our everyday life and how it can help us orientate in the world.
At the same time, the course facilitates learning about ideas and texts by many important thinkers of the 20th century which prove to be surprisingly topical today.
