Četba a překlad latinských pramenů z oboru dějiny umění a kulturních dějin, pochopení pozadí a okolností vzniku textů, rozšíření odborné slovní zásoby, běžně užívané latinské zkratky, práce se slovníkem a dalšími příručkami.Aplikace znalostí z morfologie a syntaxe, procvičování gramatických jevů průbězně probíraných v kurzech Latina pro historiky umění, popř. Latina III.
Annotation
The course is designed as supplementary reading for students of the basic Reading of Latin Texts for Art Historians (ASZLJ3110). This reading provides more space for translating Latin texts and deepening the language skills acquired in the basic course.
Although direct grammatical interpretation is not part of the readings, there is space in the course for the completion of more complex grammatical, especially syntactic phenomena, and their practice on original texts.
The selection of texts is guided by the corpus assigned as required reading for the exam from the Reading of Latin Texts for Art Historians, so the course also serves as an intensive preparation for this compulsory exam.
The course can also be taken by students of other disciplines, for whom it is designed as an extension reading of Latin texts, especially in the field of art history.
However, an introductory knowledge of Latin II and a gradual expansion of grammatical knowledge within the scope of the basic Reading of Latin Texts for Art Historians (approximately Lessons 10-15 of the textbook Ad fontes - Cursus Latinus) are required.
For non-majors, the current enrollment in Latin for Art Historians course is not mandatory, but it is recommended that you take the parallel Latina III course, which is comparable in grammatical content or have already taken Latina III prior to this reading.
Grammatical phenomena can also be supplemented by self-study.
The course is a one-semester, 1x2 hours of full-time instruction per week.
