The cell biology course consists of lectures and seminars for the 1st-year general medicine students. The two-hour lectures will be given during the last 4 study weeks in the winter semester (12th-15th study week) and the 3 two-hour seminars will take place during the 13th, 14th and 15th week of the winter semester.
The aim of the course is to provide the students with an overview of the cell structure and organisation, cell organelles, genetic information and its expression, intracellular transport, intercellular communication, cell cycle, cell signalisation and differentiation. One part of the subject covers the methods of cell biology with an emphasis on microscopy techniques.
The level of the subject is adapted for the 1st-year students of medicine. Students will obtain a syllabus and list of literature. Passing the final written test with a sufficient score will be required for obtaining the credit with marks. Regular participation to the lectures is recommended; participation to the seminars is absolutely necessary.
