After completion of Histology and Embryology, students will obtain a necessary basic overview about the structure of the human body at the level of cells and tissues. At the same time, they will acquire practical skills in microscopical analysis, which is used in the clinical practice for the histopathological examination.
Together with the knowledge of morphology, students will become familiar with basic principles of cell biology, intercellular communication, and cell differentiation. The basic knowledge of principles of how cells are organized at the structural and functional level are a prerequisite for understanding of normal physiology and biochemical processes taking part both inside as well as outside the cells.
Acquired knowledge will also allow for good understanding of human disease etiopathogenesis in future studies, including those pathologies affecting orofacial region. Embryological knowledge will facilitate understanding of mechanisms leading to developmental malformations and anomalies in the orofacial region and elsewhere.
