Lectures

Lesson 1: Basic approach to unconscious patient. A-B-C approach.

Lesson 2: Seizures, unconsciousness, bleeding, suffocation and other life-threatening conditions - theory.  

Practical trainings 1.   Basic Life Support - adults  2.   CPR with the use of AED, CPR of children  

First Aid Experience Spring Camp 2 days; based mainly on simulations of most frequent situations in first aid (trauma, medical and paediatric emergencies).    

Annotation

The subject "First aid" provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage most life-threatening condition incl. cardiac arrest, loss of consciousness, major bleeding, overdose etc. Particular emphasis is put on the technique of CPR.

Students will also train non-technical skills, incl. stress management, teamwork (incl. engaging bystanders), communication and other aspects of CRM (crisis resource management). The subject consist of self-learning (finished with passing MCQ test), 2 lectures and 2 practices (on CPR), but the most important part is the first aid experience-based camp when students learn practical aspects on realistic mock scenarios.
