Syllabus

-Structure and biological properties of individual groups of pathogens

-Methods of the laboratory diagnostics of causative agents in infectious diseases

-Methods of the collectron and transport of infectious samples for bacteriological, virological and parasitological laboratory diagnostics

-Elementary properties of the clinically important microbes

-Sterilisation and disinfection

- Prevention and treament of infectious diseases including the nosocomial infections

Basic knowledge on the hygiene in hospitals, occupational health risks in health care, hygienic demands on the health care facilities.

Annotation

The course deals with microorganisms and their effects on human health. The focus of the education is shifted to the microbial pathogenesis and immunology, antibiotic resistance, laboratory diagnostics in the medical microbiology, appropriate methods of the collection and transport of the samples. Prevention and treatment of infectious diseases are also explained.

Knowledge of hygiene, ocupational health risks in the health care and their prevention.
