Psychopathology in (moving) pictures: film and mental illness

Syllabus

The course participants will deepen their knowledge of basic psychopathology and symptoms of mental disorders with the use of examples from the world cinematography. Individual extracts will also illustrate typical stereotypes in the portrayal of mentally ill in the popular culture.

Discussions will follow the presentations. In order to obtain a credit, a minimum attendance plus a completion of a seminary paper on the topic of mental illness in arts are required.
