Annotation

The goal of the course is to teach students to understand the relationship between the pathogenic microorganism and its host in terms of biological properties of the microorganism (pathogenicity, virulence) and in terms of defense of the macroorganism (non-specific and specific immunity). Furthermore, the content of the subject is laboratory diagnostics, basics of treatment and prevention of infectious diseases.

Teaching takes place in the form of lectures, practical exercises (winter semester) and seminars / practical exercises with clinical case reports (summer semester). Continuous tests take place in Moodle (https://dl1.cuni.cz/course/index.php?categoryid=892) in both semesters.

Attendance at practical exercises / seminars is mandatory and must reach at least 80%. Part of the course is a set of lectures in pathology.
