The study program will focus on general pharmacology, in particular on getting a thorough understanding of the mechanisms of action of pharmaceuticals and study of their fate within the body, development of side effects and drug-to-drug interactions and toxic effects of medicinal products within the body in general. Furthermore, the curriculum encompasses prescription of magistral formulas and drugs manufactured on a mass scale.

In special pharmacology, emphasis is placed, in addition to basic characteristics of individual drug classes, on treatment of individual nosological entities and rational use of drugs while adhering to generally applicable legal and professional regulations (e.g., guidelines for the management of particular diseases/conditions by the respective professional societies).
