Syllabus - Neurointensive Care and Emergencies in Neurology

Characteristics: The aim of the course is to introduce a recent addition to family of neurology subspecialties: Neurointensive care. At the beginning of each lecture will be given a short summary of problem for students from the 4th year. Majority of course curriculum is not discussed at regular neurology curriculum in the 5th year. Participants will be acquainted with basic principles of neurointensive care, possibilities of neuromonitoring and differential diagnosis of comatose patients. The most important disorders will be discussed in separate lectures (such as stroke, brain hemorrhage, status epilepticus). At the closing of the lectures will be presented take-home messages for the most serious neurologic emergencies.

Course duration:3 days at Department of Neurology, 2 days at Department of Paediatric Neurology
