Sylabus

Syllabus: During the past 30 years, dozens of new vaccines have come into use and it has become difficult for all doctors to navigate their way through them. That said, every doctor must deal with immunisation – either as the person administering the vaccine, or as someone who has had or will have his children vaccinated. A deeper knowledge of this type of preventative medicine is important for every student in the Medical Faculty.

Successful completion of this optional subject, Immunisation: Vaccination -from Theory to Practice and Beyond, requires self-study in the form an E-Learning course. Completion of the course is based on a final self-test with a pass mark of at least 80%. This is the mark required for a credit.

E-Course Content: Ten chapters (History of Vaccination, Immunological Principles of Vaccination, Types of Vaccines, Safety of Vaccines and Side Effects after Vaccination, Contraindications of Vaccination, Vaccination Failure, Effectiveness of Vaccination Programs, Vaccination Refusal, Organising Vaccination, Self-Test), with an estimated study time of 15 hours.

Organisers: Department of Epidemiology, 2nd Medical Faculty, Charles University

Authors: Prof. Jiří Beran, CSc., Assoc. prof. Dana Göpfertová, CSc.
