Lesson I

Gastrointestinal  diseases of infectious origin  

Pathophysiology of gastrointestinal diseases (osmotic, inflammatory, secretory mechanisms of diarrhoea)

Incidence and epidemiology of infectious gastroenterites

Infectious gastroenteritis of viral and bacterial origin and foodborne toxigenic diarrhoea (clinical course, diagnosis, therapy, prophylaxis)

Differential diagnosis of infectious and non- infectious diarrhoea

Complications of infectious diarrheal diseases

Clinical picture, epidemiology, pathophysiology, complications, therapy, prophylaxis of Salmonellosis, Salmonella typhi and paratyphi, Cholera, E.coli gastroenteritis, Campylobacteriosis, Yersinia enterocolitica, Shigellosis, pseudomembranous enterocolitis, Rotavirus, Adenovirus, Norwalk virus gastroenterites and other viral gastroenterites, foodborne toxigenic diarrhea

Infectious mononucleosis /virus Epstein-Barr, cytomegalovirus/ - epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical course, diagnosis, therapy, complications
