1) Introductory seminar Getting to know the subject and its objectives. The importance of medical instrumentation. Simplified measurement theory, critical view of results. SUKL and instrumentation. Biosignals and their importance.
2) operating theaters Basic equipment of operating theaters. Specialized instrumentation technology according to fields.
3) intensive care Cardiovascular monitoring. Methods and probes for respiration measurement. CNS monitoring instruments. Artificial lung fans. Continuous extracorporeal elimination methods. Mechanized external heart massage.
4) radiological imaging and therapeutic methods Ionizing radiation in diagnostics and therapy, detection of ionizing radiation, contrasting media, scintigraphy. RTG, CT, SPECT, PET, NMRI devices. Ionizing radiation for radiotherapy, radiation damage. Teleradiotherapy. Nuclear medicine (brachytherapy, proton therapy)
5) Ultrasonography Ultrasound, ultrasonic converters, ultrasound propagation, acoustic impedance, measurement by ultrasound, amode, B mode, M mode, basic types and use of ultrasonic probes. Doppler phenomenon, model situations, use of general and in medicine. Practical demonstrations of ultrasonography
6) Biomedical computer modeling Simulation and modeling of biological systems. Interaction of tissues and artificial systems (eg splints).
The aim of the subject is to provide students of higher years with a deeper overview of diagnostic, therapeutic and laboratory medical devices, which are an integral part of all medical fields today.
Within subject, the physical principles on which diagnostic, therapeutic and laboratory methods established. As part of the practical exercises, the correct measurement methodology will be explained to the students, the issue of measurement method error and its minimization. At the same time, students will have the opportunity to practically get to know each other with common modern clinical and laboratory instruments.
