To gain a good theoretical knowledge in following fields of medical physiology: respiratory system (ventilation, pulmonary respiration, transport of O2 and CO2, cellular respiration), endocrine and reproductive physiology, physiology of gastrointestinal system (digestion and absorption of basic nutrients, regulation of secretion and motility), metabolism (energetic metabolism, intermediary metabolism), physiology of the kidneys (glomerular and tubular processes, acid-base balance), thermoregulation and biorhythms.
To gain basal practical skill in physiology of cardiovascular system (ECG), respiratory system (spirometry), endocrine system (oral glucose tolerance test), metabolism (basal metabolic rate, nutritional status), kidneys (computer simulation of basic renal functions).
