 Introduction; the main objective of the subject.The psychological perspective in medicine. Psychological emergency interventions.

 The developmental psychology with concern to medicine. Vatirous theories of developmental psychology. Developmental consideration in medically ill.

 Disease as a stressful situation. The different concepts of disease and health. Psychological reactions to becoming ill, coping strategies.

 Family systems medicine. Family as a system. The key role of a family in development with relation to health. Family approach in medicine.

 Introduction to psychosomatic medicine. Overview of different psychosomatic perspectives. Systemic family therapy in psychosomatic disorders  

Annotation

The subject covers various topics from general psychology, medical psychology, and contemporary psychotherapy that are relevant to medicine. Main attention is given to bio-psycho-social approach, psychosomatic medicine, systemic approach and psychotherapy research.

Important aspects of clinical practice are discussed from psychology/psychotherapy viewpoint such as subjective experience of being ill, communication intricacies between physician and patient, therapeutic relationship, embedded counselling etc.
