Syllabus

Lecturers: Mgr. Eva Schánělová                 Mgr. Klára Čebišová   1) Review and practice winter term topics. Introduction to clinical and pathological terminology. 

Chapter 14 – Basics of word formation (gastrorrhexis X gastropexis, nephrotomia X nephrectomia X nephrostomia, etc.) 

Examples in medical and pathological reports.  2) Chapter 14 – Basics of word formation. 

Examples in medical and pathological reports.  3) Chapter 15 a – Latin and Greek Prefixes (perivertebralis X paravertebralis, intra X inter, etc.) Examples in medical and pathological reports. 

Test I (Chapter 14) 4) Chapter 15 b – Latin and Greek Numerals. Examples in medical and pathological reports 5) Chapter 16 – Latin and Greek suffixes. Reading authentic clinical diagnoses.

Test II (Chapter 15) 6) Chapter 16 – Latin and Greek suffixes. Examples in medical and pathological reports. A reading of autopsy certificates. 7) Chapter 17 – Abbreviations, Remedies, and Post-mortem examinations.

Test III (Chapter 16) 8) The written credit test. Preparation for the final exam.  

Annotation

The subject aims to understand medical terminology phrases. The summer term is focused on reading authentic medical materials.
