1. Practical Class 1 – Microscopy Protocol 1 – Work with a microscope, observation of temporary and permanent mount
2. Practical Class 2 – Plasma membrane and osmosis Protocol 2 – Osmotic effect in animal and plant cell
3. Practical Class 3 – Cell culture: cell counting Protocol 3 – Cell counting in the Bürker chamber
4. Practical Class 4 – Genetics Protocol 4 – Observation of genotype and phenotype expression
5. Practical Class 5 – Paramecium caudatum and cell stress Protocol 5 – Observation of Paramecium caudatum in microscope
6. Practical Class 6 – Mitosis Protocol 5 – Study of the stages of mitosis from permanent slides
The main goal of Practical classes in Cell Biology is to reveal to the students how the living cell works and teach them how to handle the microscope. Both will give them the background for the subjects in the upcoming years. The students will work with animal and plant cells, with Drosophila melanogaster or Paramecium caudatum.
Themes: Microscop, Osmosis, Genotype and Fenotype, Cell counting, Observation of Paramecium caudatum, Mitosis
