Annotation

The subject Bioanalysis of Drugs introduces the students the most important methods and techniques, which are widely used in clinical practice to determine drug levels in body fluids with a view to therapeutic drug monitoring, analytical and forensic toxicology, etc.). In clinical practice, there is an increasing demand for university graduates trained in this specialization.

The reason is the fact that all principal questions concerning the fate of the drug in the organism can be answered only by an analytical study. Both theoretical and practical education focuses on physical-chemical and immunochemical methods of drug bioanalysis, problems of the interference of the biological matrix, chromatographic methods with an emphasis on HPLC and mass spectrometry, techniques and procedures of sample preparation prior to the analysis itself and on the most widely employed bianalytical methods.

The students are also introduced to the trends in above-mentioned areas. Some seminars and practical demonstrations take place at ICBD at the Faculty Hospital in Hradec Králové.
