Subject “Sample Preparation Methods of Biological Material for Analysis” deals with main sample preparation techniques before analysis. Main emphasis is placed on basic principles of different extraction techniques (and their advantages and disadvantages) and especially modern trends in this area.
Biological material is very complicated matrix. Analytes are usually presented in small amount, bind to proteins or specific transporters. Therefore, sample preparation procedure is one of he key processes in method development. Modern sample preparation process should fulfil such requirements as: small sample amount, easy handling with large sample series, robustness, minimise exposition of laboratory staff by biological material, fast and money saving procedure. The aim of the course is to familiarize students with modern extraction methods - liquid phase and solid phase extraction, micro-extraction techniques and their modifications, molecularly imprinted polymers, column switching and on-line SPE, and salting-out extraction.
