Annotation
The subject „Basics of photophysics“ extends the students' knowledge of possible interactions of compounds with light. Within this subject, following areas are discussed: basic parameters of light, energy transfer from light to other molecules, singlet oxygen and its use in pharmacy, Förster resonance transfer and its use in molecular probes.
Further, theoretical aspects of fluorescence emission and its potential in sensoric applications will be explained. The aim of this subject is to deepen the knowledge of phenomena mentioned above and to discuss their possible use in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry, molecular biology and related disciplines.
