The aim of the teaching of this subject is a deeper understanding of basic and applied pharmacology of the cardiovascular system. The importance is also given by the fact, that cardiovascular diseases represent still the most common cause of mortality in developped countries.
Hence, the knowledge of the most important diseases (e.g. cardiac rhythm disturbances, coronary heart disease, arterial hypertension, heart failure) and their pharmacotherapy are essential for each doctoral student experimentally testing the effect of drugs or other chemical entities on the mentioned system.
