1. Practical Class 1 – Microscopy    Protocol 1 – Work with a microscope, observation of temporary and permanent mount

2. Practical Class 2 – Plasma membrane and osmosis                                                        Protocol 2 – Osmotic effect in animal and plant cell

3. Practical Class 3 – Cell culture: cell counting    Protocol 3 – Cell counting in the Bürker chamber

4. Practical Class 4 – Genetics      Protocol 4 – Observation of genotype and phenotype expression

5. Practical Class 5 – Paramecium caudatum and cell stress Protocol 5 – Observation of Paramecium caudatum in microscope

6. Practical Class 6 – Mitosis            Protocol 6 – Study of the stages of mitosis from permanent slides

Annotation

The main goal of Practical classes in Cell Biology is to reveal to the students how the living cell works and teach them how to handle the microscope. Both will give them the background for the subjects in the upcoming years. The students will work with animal and plant cells, with Drosophila melanogaster or Paramecium caudatum.
